William Street in the City 26/9/2010

William Street currently has some part time (clearway) and some full time painted lanes.  The Victorian Cycling Strategy promises to "Improve bicycle facilities along William Street and Latrobe Street as primary routes into and through the CBD" but the City of Melbourne does not want to take space away from motor vehicles.  This is unusual: usually it is the State preventing the City from improving bicycle facilities.  They must take it in turns.

The second photo is of the "full-time" lane heading south towards Lonsdale Street, with a bus parked in it.  That happens full time as well.
