Princes Bridge

  • Leaving the City to the south is Princes Bridge.  On the bridge there is a segregated path which is not respected by pedestrians and an extremely narrow on road bike lane — which isn't legally a bike lane (too narrow).
  • To the right are two photos of buses parked on the on-road bicycle lane — this is a frequent occurence.  Not enough space has been left to accomodate a bus.  Since the death of a cyclist in Swanston St under the wheels of one of these tourist buses, this is a little insensitive.
  • Below is the confusion on the eastern footpath, which is segregated on the bridge and confusing to the south.  The first of these shows a "shared path" sign but on the ground there is a pre-historic segregated path painted.  The second photo, looking the other way, shows a segregated path sign but no corresponding painted lines.
