Here are some of the things that are happening around the City of Melbourne:

A new Transport Strategy is being written by the City.  This year a new Bike Plan will be released.  St Kilda Rd is getting fresh attention after the draft masterplan was squashed by the Labor Government's transport minister 3 years ago.  The draft Municipal Strategic Statement maps out some bold new bike routes that need careful thought.

We have a new State Government which has reportedly cut the VicRoads budget for bicycle infrastructure to $2M.  We lost an old Government which blocked the St Kilda Rd masterplan for 3 years, refused a 40km/h speed limit in the CBD and launched a bike share crippled by mandatory helmet laws.

Swanston St is changing, from the Uni to the Cathedral (again).  Nothing is certain.

Everybody, from the Lord Mayor, to Yarra Trams to Bicycle Victoria wants to fix up the mess in Swanston St between Flinders st and Princes Bridge.  Let's make sure bikes get a slice of that.
